Depending on what type of business you have, we will need the following information with a completed business application to open a business account. We will also need personal identifying information for each signer authorized on the business account.

Sole Proprietor / DBA

Assumed Name Certificate (DBA Paper) filed with the County Clerk listing the business name and owner’s name.
If the business owner is not using their social security number for reporting, a copy of the IRS EIN (Employer Identification Number) is needed. If the business name includes the owners first and last name, the Assumed Name Certificate is not needed

Limited Liability Corporation
  • Copy of Certificate of Filing and Certificate of (LLC) Formation filed with the Texas Secretary of State
  • Copy of Certificate of Incorporation if filed before 2006
  • Copy of Assumed Name Certificate if applicable
  • Copy of IRS EIN (Employer Identification Number)
Corporation
  • Copy of Articles of Incorporation filed with the Texas Secretary of StateIf filed after January 1, 2006, please provide a Certificate of
  • Formation rather than Articles of Incorporation
  • Certificate of Filing issued from Texas Secretary of State
  • By-Laws, Charter, or Minutes if applicable
  • Copy of IRS EIN (Employer Identification Number)
Partnership
  • Signed copy of the Partnership Agreement which identifies the partners/general partners and their authority
  • Copy of Assumed Name Certificate if applicable
  • Copy of IRS EIN (Employer Identification Number)
Limited Partnership
  • Copy of Certificate of Limited Partnership or Certificate of Formation filed with Texas Secretary of State
  • Copy of signed Partnership Agreement
  • Copy of Assumed Name Certificate if applicable
  • Copy of IRS EIN (Employer Identification Number)
Associations / Organizations
  • Copy of Resolution or Meeting Minutes authorizing the opening of the account and who is allowed to be signers on the account
  • Copy of Association Constitution, Bylaws, or Charter if applicable
  • Copy of IRS EIN (Employer Identification Number)
Non-Profit Corporation
  • Copy of Articles of Incorporation filed with the Texas Secretary of State
  • If filed after January 1, 2006, please provide a Certificate of Formation rather than Articles of Incorporation
  • Copy of organization’s Constitution, Bylaws, or Charter
  • Copy of IRS Determination letter for non-profit status
  • Copy of IRS EIN (Employer Identification Number)
Estate Account
  • Original death certificate
  • Copy of IRS EIN (Employer Identification Number)
  • Letter of Administration, Letter of Testamentary, or Letter of Guardianship
Trust Accounts
  • Trust authorization and agreement
  • Copy of IRS EIN (Employer Identification Number)
IOLTA Accounts
  • IOLTA Notice to Financial Institution and Foundation

*Partnerships, Limited Partnerships, LLC, and Corporations are NOT eligible to open a NOW Account.
*We cannot open a business account if the business is awaiting the issuance of its EIN number.
